Best Practices in Teaching
To the left, I have linked a Youtube to a TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) talk in which Sir Ken Robinson discusses how schools kill creativity. I first viewed this video in my CI 3750 class, Integrating Media and Technology into Teaching. After viewing the video I participated in a class discussion about effective and ineffective teaching. I also completed a reflection in the form of a 4-2-2 which I have attached at the bottom of this page. I found this video gave me a new perspective on the role of teachers in public schools. It is important to allow children to be as creative and free as possible in the classroom. Many students have ability that reaches far beyond math and science. It is important for teachers to allow children to explore the world around them and tap into their more creative side!
