Teaching and Learning in the Digital Age
While enrolled in CI 2300- Teaching and Learning in the Digital Age, I completed two major projects. The first was an analysis of how media may affect children in their day-to-day lives. This project focused mainly on the objectification of women in television. I chose this topic because I feel it is important to understand how media objectifies females in order to eliminate this sterotype in my classroom. I completed this project using the website Prezi.
The second project I completed was a lesson unit on the book "Poor Puppy" by Nick Bruel. This lesson was created for Kindergarten teachers to teach reading liteacy and foundational skills, as well as tying in lessons in mathematics and socials studies. Students should learn their alphabet and how to count numbers 1-20 by using this unit. For this project, I created an animated video using Powtoon. This video is intended to teach students about the main parts of a story, including the setting and characters. I also created supplemental worksheets, which are included in the "resources" tab of this presentation.
